Chestnut honey is one of the most appreciated and popular variety of Italian honey. It is harvested during the summer months. Chestnut honey has a dark amber color, that tends to dark brown and an intense and persistent aroma. The taste isn’t very sweet, but decisive and slightly bitter. It also has a low tendency to crystalize. It’s perfect with aged cheese, chocolate sweets and full-bodies red wines. Chestnut honey is very indicated for the autumn and winter seasons, because it helps to warm the organism and fight seasonal ailments. It has a considerable antioxidant action and is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.
